This past year I worked as an archives assistant at the Prints & Photographs Collection of the DeGolyer Library at the Southern Methodist University. The collection which holds over a million of photographic materials such as daguerreotypes, stereographs, gelatin silver prints, albums, negatives and postcards, supports the study of the history of Dallas, Texas, U.S. West, Mexico and transportation world-wide.
I was responsible for organizing, re-housing and inventorying several new or existing collections, and also assisted with the overall management, preservation and care of collections.
Updated and created Encoded Archival Description (EAD) finding aids.
Updated the online records of numerous collections on Alma, the university’s library services platform.
Assisted with the promotion, installation and deinstallation of exhibits.
Helped researchers in the reading room and via email, and students during class visits.
Curated an online exhibit and created the website for it using SiteCore.
